The 2022 Mazda CX-5 Wins Over the 2023 Honda CR-V

February 1st, 2023 by

Let’s take a look at why!

The new 2023 Honda CR-V hit the markets the past year. But here at McDonald Mazda North, we feel confident that our popular SUV, the CX-5, is still the better option. So today, we will look at the 2022 CX-5 compared to the 2023 CR-V and discuss why the CX-5 is the winner. Despite being a newer model, the latest CR-V can’t reach the same level as last year’s CX-5.

The No. 1 SUV

Let’s start with a fact that proves our stance on this. According to U.S. News, the 2022 CX-5 is the best SUV, coming in the No. 1 spot out of 20 for the best compact SUVs for 2022 and 2023! U.S. News loved the CX-5’s luxurious interior, an array of standard safety features, and the fun-to-drive quality that Mazda’s known for. If you’re wondering how this scoring system works, it is based on reviews from automotive critics in newspapers, magazines, and online. Then, an average is calculated on ride quality, comfort, interior quality, tech, safety features, cargo space, passenger space, towing capabilities, value, awards, and reliability rankings. Are you sold yet?

Drive

As mentioned, the drive of the Mazda CX-5 is very enjoyable. MotorBiscuit describes the ride as engaging and the handling as responsive. These are desirable qualities! The CR-V, on the other hand, is considered “decent.” At Mazda, we strive to be better than just decent. Beyond that, the CR-V has a loud engine, which we think would get pretty annoying. A better and quieter drive? Yeah, we’ll take the CX-5.

Price Point

Mazda is all about the combination of luxury and affordability. Regarding the cost, you will find the base-level of the CX-5 starting at $26,250. The 2023 CR-V starts at a higher price of $31,110. As you can see, the 2022 CX-5 base-level trim will save you more money. We find this especially important as a starting option. The CX-5 still provides the opportunity to upgrade, with the 2.5 Signature trim bringing the price to $39,000.

What About the 2023 CX-5?

In case you’re wondering, the latest version of the CX-5 still beats the CR-V. The CR-V received a redesign this year, while the CX-5 did not. As a result, the Mazda is already very contemporary, luxurious, and ahead of the game. This means you can get the 2023 CX-5 at a cheaper price point than the Honda. The new model year of the CX-5 starts slightly higher than the previous, at $26,700. This works out to be a difference of $4,410 when compared to the Honda. So if you’re looking to get more for your money, tons of standard features, and a beautiful style, the Mazda is your car.

So there you have it, the Mazda CX-5 proves to be the winner! Contact us at McDonald Mazda North if you are interested in a new Mazda vehicle. We look forward to helping you find the best Mazda for you!
