The European and American Models Propel Mazda Even Further Into Luxury

By now, you probably know that Mazda has made a name for itself as a brand that defines luxury while maintaining its affordability. A new look at the 2023 Mazda CX-60 and the 2023 Mazda CX-70 further demonstrates the brand’s efforts to move deeper into the luxury space. Let’s take a look at what we know so far about the upcoming models.

2023 Mazda CX-60

The Mazda CX-60 is a release specifically for the European market. Here in the United States, we can expect the upcoming 2023 Mazda CX-70 will be pretty comparable. The CX-60 is the first in a lineup of SUVs with longitudinal engines from the brand. This engine will allow the SUV to drive with similar handling and performance to that of luxury vehicles, such as Mercedes. This vehicle is set to inch the brand even closer into the luxury market. It will also come standard with all-wheel drive.

Design has always been a large aspect of the Mazda brand, as they’ve put an emphasis on their KODO design philosophy, which brings a “Soul of Motion,” into its vehicles. The Japanese influences can be seen in the cabin. Car and Driver got a look at a sample CX-60, and noted that the cabin included wood trim and a dashboard with woven fabric. They went on to add that the metal accents “seemed inspired by the fenders of a ’50s Cadillac.”

This model will have an option for a 3.3-liter e-Skyactiv D diesel-six engine. This particular engine is set to have a thermal efficiency of over 40 percent! The model will also be available in a plug-in hybrid version, another first for Mazda. This option features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that provides 188-hp, paired with a 173-hp electric motor. Together, they provide a horsepower of 323.

2023 Mazda CX-70

As mentioned, this will be an SUV closely related to the CX-60, which will hit the American market. The styling here is more aligned with American tastes and the body is set to be wider than the CX-60. Like the CX-60, this SUV will be built on the longitudinal engine platform. The model is set to come standard with all-wheel drive. We can also expect a plug-in hybrid powertrain to be available in this model.

The cabin here will also be an upgrade from other, similar competitors. We know it will provide the same attention to upscale detail as the CX-60.

Although we are still waiting for more details to be released, we can get a pretty good idea of what’s to come based on what we already know about the CX-60. We are so excited to see the brand move forward, propelling even further into the luxury market. Mazda’s design philosophy is always present, and the brand is constantly evolving and innovating. We can’t wait to see where the future takes us!
