The 2024 Mazda CX-90 and CX-90 PHEV have already proven their worth in the automotive safety arena. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded both models the prestigious 2023 TOP SAFETY PICK+ Award. This indicates that the vehicles have met their high standards in terms of safety. This recognition emphasizes the trust that drivers can place in both CX-90 variants.

The TOP SAFETY PICK+ is a distinguished award in the automobile industry, indicating a vehicle’s superior safety standards. A car must excel in several rigorous tests to achieve this coveted distinction. These include “Good” ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, original moderate overlap front, and updated side tests. 

Additionally, the vehicle must have “Acceptable” or “Good” rated headlights as a standard feature across all trims. Crucially, a front crash prevention system is required to earn “Advanced” or “Superior” ratings in daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. These factors enhance the vehicle’s safety profile, making it a preferred choice for conscious buyers.

Both variants have a standard front crash prevention system, which has achieved Superior ratings in daytime and nighttime evaluations. Notably, LED projector headlights that received a Good rating are standard equipment on the S, S Premium, and S Premium Plus trims of the CX-90. 

Other trims of the CX-90 and all trims of the CX-90 PHEV sport headlights that have been rated as Acceptable. This recognition marks a milestone for Mazda as the CX-90s are the first models from the brand to attain the top-tier TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, joining the six other Mazda models that have previously earned the 2023 Top SAFETY PICK awards.

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 and CX-90 PHEV are great examples of automotive safety, earning this prestigious accolade from the respected IIHS.
